The Blush Hunter has been back at Melbourne Central, cooking up face mask creations and DIY scrubs to save your skin in winter. Scroll through to see what you can do with just a few simple ingredients from Coles!

Someone famous once said that those who can't do, teach. And while there may be some merit to that sentiment in many areas of life, DIY skincare is not one of them.

The supermarket is so much more than a place for your day-to-day groceries. With a bit of know how and some quick aisle hopping, you can be sporting smooth, summer skin all year around on the most modest of budgets.

So having done, we're now teaching. Here are three of the best DIY skincare recipes there are.

Coffee body scrub

Vittoria coffee beans, $5.95; Maldon sea salt, $8.50; Planet Food organic coconut oil, $8.00.

If there's one thing our city has an abundance of, it's coffee beans. For this body and face scrub, origin is not of the essence, a bag of any old beans will do. Just ground 'em up, mix with the sea salt and coconut oil and you're good to get down and dirty.

Before packing your scrub into a jar, be sure to run your hands through the mixture and make sure there are no particularly course sea salt flakes. If it feels too chunky in your hands, it definitely won't feel good on the more sensitive parts of your body. Just break down any you find and keep moving.

Once everything is mixed together you can either pack it into one large jar, or alternatively into mini patty pan cases for single use scrub bars. The bars can be stored together in a container in the freezer for you to grab on your way to the shower whenever you need them.

It's perfect for those with dry skin, eczema, stretch marks, and just about everything else you can think of. And because of the coconut oil in the scrub, you may not even need to use moisturiser afterwards, and that's the true power of the DIY.

You will need: 1 cup freshly ground coffee, 6 tbs coconut oil, 3 tbs sea salt.

Honey lip scrub

Planet food organic coconut oil, $8; Beechworth honey, $4.50; Coles brown sugar, $1.40.

Dry, shredding winter lips are the absolute worst. But, this super simple honey lip scrub is a life saving dream come true. This at home recipe will make you a jar big enough to get you through winter. You will need: 1 tbs coconut oil, 1 tbs honey, 2 tbs brown sugar.

Similar to the coffee scrub, just measure out the ingredients before mixing everything together and storing in an airtight container or jar.

When you feel your lips are in need of freshening up, just swipe a small amount of the scrub onto your lips, move it around like you would lip balm, and after around 30 seconds wipe off. Smooth, supple lips once more!

You will need: 1 tbs coconut oil, 1 tbs honey, 2 tbs brown sugar.

Strawberry face mask

Fresh strawberries, $5.50; lemon, $1.00; Beechworth honey, $4.50; Farmers Union natural yoghurt, $2.10.

This soothing strawberry face mask is perfect for winter weather changes and calming down irritated skin. Plus, three of the four ingredients go on to make a delicious breakfast! Once made, this mask only lasts around 48 hours, so use it quick smart.

You will need: ¼ cup of mashed fresh strawberries, 1 tbs fresh lemon juice, 1 tbs plain yogurt, 1 tbs honey.
