ELLA

Melbourne’s newest foodie hotspot, where Elizabeth meets La Trobe.
If you’re looking for somewhere that celebrates everything that’s great about Melbourne, you’ll want to go directly to ELLA — the city’s new buzzing food, music, events and art hotspot — where Elizabeth meets La Trobe.

Hungry? Not anymore! Taste your way through Colour Bowls, the new eatery from South Yarra’s hatted restaurant, Atlas; Sam Sam (hello, deep-fried Korean chicken!); Son In Law The Pad, a delish new concept by Collingwood’s favourite Thai restaurant; and Dainty Sichuan’s new spot, Pick A Stick Chinese Skewers. Don’t worry if you’re a Chilli Everest or Ajisen Ramen local either — they’re back with epic makeovers, and the same mouth-watering food.

The ELLA chatbot will even be standing by on Facebook Messenger and WeChat so you can order easily and quickly, whether you’re dining in or taking away. If only it could help you decide what to eat, right!?

With your taste buds covered, the ELLA live music line-up will take care of your ears, with up-and-coming and much-loved artists on high rotation. There’ll be a curated soundtrack starring local Melbourne performers, and you’ll even be able to vote for a genre of the week via the crowdDJ kiosk (‘80s vs ‘90s? Northside vs Southside? Bollywood vs K-Pop?!).

If you’re the cultured type, immerse yourself in Melbourne’s famous street art — but be prepared to look up, down and all around to find it! Art will pop up in the most unlikely spots throughout ELLA, like café doors and ceilings. If there’s one thing Melburnians are good at, it’s hide-and-seek.

But wait — there’s more! Keep your eyes peeled for lots of openings over the next few months, including a coworking space by Collingwood’s Worksmith; another location for the purveyors of wine, beer and cider, Blackhearts & Sparrows; and fancy cocktail bar, Byrdi, by the globally-renowned Luke Whearty.
