Even if I walked past Central Grocery blindfolded, I’d still hear the colourful snacks calling my name. These tiny iced gem biscuits are a favourite. Most drinks and snacks in there have characters on the front of the packaging, which I appreciate. I don't know if this fuji apple juice character is a whale or a cat—the point is, it’s cute. You know how you have to put out a search warrant for the filling in most doughnuts these days? That’s not the case with the Tivoli Road Bakery doughnuts that I got from the Flour Market pop-up. There are more lemons in the lemon curd than there are on your grandpa’s lemon tree. It’s one of the best doughnuts I’ve ever had.

Takoyaki are truly one of life’s greatest pleasures. I love the way the bonito flakes dance on top of the takoyaki. Ajisen Ramen make theirs with special sauce, which I’m tipping has a fair punch of kewpie mayo in it. The “ramune” soft drink from Central Grocery is a genius Japanese design. When you open the lid, you push a marble stopping at the top into the drink. I don’t know its purpose, but simply unscrewing a cap will always seem so boring after your first ramune.

The lolly bag cake is the cake Willy Wonka would make if he knew how to bake, not just operate elevators, do somersaults and sing creepily. LuxBite, which is taking part in the Flour Market pop-up, make this seven-layer beauty with layers including musk mallow, mandarin Jaffa ganache and spearmint leaf buttercream. When I feel like lollies not in the form of a cake, I like to hit up Central Sweets Chocolate Shop, which is where I found these giant rainbow marshmallows.

I’ve never had a winter melon but, if this tea is anything to go by, they’re pretty great. Sometimes I get anxious if I don’t have a snack within easy reach so I buy little tasty snacks in bulk, such as these prawn and green pea flavour Pick Fine mixes. Sure, sometimes I have to eat three or four bags in one hit but it comes with 10 packs so it will definitely last me three snack-attacks. Sweet and sour mango with chilli is a treat I get myself when I want to remember holidays in south-east Asia—and you can get all these things from Central Grocery!

Have you ever had a sausage croissant? Breadtop has sausage croissants. I like how the cheese looks like a tiny blanket on a bed of flaky croissant. Waffle fries from Burger Edge act as an excavator to pile on the aioli. There’s so much surface area, it’s really easy to perfect your ratio of chip to dip.
