‘Repose’

2012. HD video, edition of 5, 2:04 minutes on infinite loop.
Repose was constructed and animated using 3D modelling software to create a virtual hotel room – the sort of generic, standardised space that is now repeated globally, with only surface variations. The room is filled with references to communications, simulation, uncertain space, and other contemporary conditions. These details only fully reveal themselves through repeated viewing, unfolding through time in the way a painting does. Like a painting, the artist hopes it to be beguiling, enigmatic, beautiful and hypnotic.
