Lorelei Vashti – My Favourite Things

Lamb Ugg Boots from UGG – $49
“Any self-respecting parent's number one task is to try to transform their offspring into a mini version of themselves—in my case that means a pyjama-wearing, Ugg-boot-shod knitwear enthusiast. These cute kids' boots were pretty difficult for my daughter to walk in, but that's because she hasn't really learnt to walk yet. I reckon if there is a child in your life who can already walk, these would be just great!”

Matte Lip lipsticks from MAC – $36 each
“Here I am in book form, surrounded by some of my favourite Melbourne literary women, as well as four of my favourite lippies from Mac's new Matte Lip range—Men Love Mystery (it's a wearable purple!), Studded Kiss (a deep, warm red; my perfect colour), Whirl (apparently Kylie Jenner wears the lip liner of this, YES I AM COOL AND KNOW STUFF LIKE THAT), and Dangerous (almost the same colour as everyone's perennial fave Lady Danger). It's pretty simple really: wearing lipstick makes me feel good, and that's why it's one of my favourite things.”

Chuck Taylor All Star II from Converse – $120
“Some days, as I sit working at my computer in pyjamas and Ugg boots, I wonder what it's like to be a normal person and wear actual shoes. So that's why I wanted to test these out—the just-released Chuck Taylor All Star II. I discovered they're perfect for doing such important tasks as climbing ladders and picking lemons, which you can turn into lemonade when your book gets rejected by yet another publisher (because as an unemployed writer you have lots of spare time on your hands to make beverages from scratch). These shoes are also very supportive which I appreciate—rejected writers needs all the support they can get.”

Sapphire Wrap Dress – $299, Spot On Crop Tank – $129 and Spot On Pant – $229 from Gorman
“There's nothing a lady writer needs more than a silk kimono. Well, she also needs a room of her own, some good ideas, a fiercely self-directed work ethic, unwavering confidence in her own ability, and preferably someone to cook dinner for her every night. But I strongly believe a silk kimono is at least equally important as all those things. Extra points if you can match your silk kimono to the book you're currently pretentiously reading: here I am in Gorman's exquisite Sapphire Wrap Dress, casually reading everyone's favourite beach read Australian Poetry since 1788.”

Colour Change Markers from Smiggle – $16.95
“As soon as I set eyes on these pens, a technicolour flood of primary school memories washed over me, memories of writing covert letters back and forth to my best friend during class. The teacher discovered us and we were separated and banned from bringing coloured pens into the classroom forevermore, but now I'm an adult and can use colour change markers any time I want, so SUCK THAT MRS HARPER. The white pen makes all the other pens change colour! It's actually magic.”
